Tips on How to be a Good Author

The world of creating literary treatise is usually thought of, by the natural order of things, as the preserved space for writers. This is because many can spell, read and write but just a handful can string together words into a book. It takes time and dedication to make it in writing. Authorship also requires extensive research and high-grade language command. Having all these under your belt may take an eternity and that’s why a writer’s journey to perfection never ends.

Read as much as you write

Alternate your attention between reading and writing since you develop the art of writing by learning from other writers. Figuratively, look at reading as your ideological spring board and your pen or keyboard as the playing field. This where you implement a fusion of writing styles learnt from other authors. It’s significant to note that an author is a creator with the ability to bring into being that which is in mind. Reading fuels the mind.

Create a writing culture

It’s hilarious to be an author who doesn’t write. The urge to write isn’t obtained via an abstract inspiration-spewing conduit. You have to search for it. Some people find it along the lake shores, in bed or within the confines of chaotic places. The fact that a person may enjoy writing in a disco or a crowded market set-up shows the extents to which good authors go to create a reliable writing culture. The culture is usually driven by a philosophy of some kind. The most common being the writing quota system which pegs on writing a specific number of words within an articulated period. You can subsequently strive to write 2000 words every day before lunch time. Your writing stints could as well begin at a specific time after a self-crafted ritualistic writing activity that works for you.

The productive pockets writing concept

Writers’ blocks are usually not a waste to a good author though it can affect your deadlines if not kept in check. Note that the blocks can be transformed into productive pockets. Look at it as having a season of bountiful harvest after a stretch of drought since most writers deliver excellent literary work after recovery from the blocks. The bouts of productivity are what are referred to as the productive pockets. Make good use of them for they play a role in setting aside distinguished authors from the learners.

Rewrite, rewrite and rewrite

writing materialNever believe in the first draft. Always doubt your grammatical structure and flow of ideas. This compels you to solicit for ideas that may enable to rewrite the entire draft. A writer never stops to rewrite hence the adage that a good book’s narrative is usually abandoned by the author. They are never finished.
